The Lipper Analytic Review recently did a survey in order to separate those sites that were getting the most hits and the most business from those that were being ignored. It came down to one very important issue - content.

If you have a website - and you should - you’re going to really have to load it up with content instead of just advertisements for your product or service. So what do we mean by content? We’re talking about good news items, solid information, interesting articles, useful advice - anything related to the interest of the people most likely to come to your site. Just putting up some ads for your products and services is not good enough.

You need to have good content - the related stories and news - that makes people want to come to the site. For example, several sharp marketers now are selling books and manuals over the Internet, and they’re putting a chapter or two of the book or manual they’re selling on their webpage for their prospects and customers to read through and preview before they buy. We first heard about this on C-Span where they have what’s called “Book T.V.” every weekend to promote non-fiction books. Many of the books are historical or political, but they do cover some business books, too. They found that by just giving the first chapter plus the table of contents of every book that they review on “Book T.V.,” their sales more than double.

A Short And Sweet Formula For Writing E-Mail Messages That Focus On Customer Problems, And Can Earn You A Lot Of Profits In The Process!

I’ve got a short and sweet formula for writing e-mail messages that focus on customer problems, and can earn you a lot of profits in the process.

As you know, the key to e-mail is keeping it brief and making it direct - that makes it profitable. E-mail messages need to be short. Now, I know the axiom in copyrighting is the more you tell, the more you sell, and I believe that very strongly and practice it. But when it comes to e-mail, I am not so sure that this old copyrighting axiom really serves us well.

Remember, the reason we are using e-mail is because it is fast, cheap, and efficient. And that’s really how we like to receive our e-mail.

E-mail takes a lot of time, as you know. The more you grow the more time it takes, so you need to streamline how much you write and the quantity of material you write. You want to do this without decreasing the effectiveness of what you write. So I am going to give you a formula that will help you do that.

I would like to make one additional comment about the headline. I would like to suggest that if you’re selling money making opportunity, income opportunity, or a home business opportunity, give some consideration to the words you use in that headline.

If you’re using the words “free,” “Money,” and “at home,” you might want to rethink your headline and not use them in the subject matter headline. You may want to take those words and use them as an opening headline in the body of the message.

The reason I say that is because so much spam has come out with the words “free,” “make money,” and “home” that many people have set up filters on their e-mail to delete or not show message subjects with those words in the title.

Some time ago I read a list of the words that people were using to filter out their mail. These are some of the words that they are using, so it may filter out your mail before they have a chance to see it. If your offer requires those kinds of words, try and come up with a subject matter headline that doesn’t use those key words but is still powerful, and then make that headline with the words “free” and so forth as your opening line to your e-mail message.

The formula I would like to suggest I call PAPA. P-A-P-A - that just makes it easy to remember. I am suggesting that you write your e-mail in just four paragraphs. You should be able to accomplish everything you need to do in an e-mail message in just four paragraphs.

Open your e-mail with the “pain” that your customer is feeling. Zero in on that pain and make it immediate. If it’s poor credit, start talking about the pain of poor credit. The pain of high repair bills. The fact that they may not have money. Hit the pain the customer is feeling immediately. Use vivid action words that make that discomfort very clear and visible to your customer. Don’t exaggerate but, “Have you been embarrassed by being refused lodging at a hotel because you had the money but you didn’t have a credit card?” “Have you found it difficult to get a credit card?” If you don’t have a credit card you’re going to feel that pain instantly.

The second paragraph - “A.”

Alleviate the pain. Show your customer in that one paragraph how you can make it easy, quick, and simple to reduce or eliminate that pain. Guarantee them a credit card, using the same example, with no security deposit and they can have it in just ten days. That takes my pain away if I didn’t have a card and needed one!

Go to your web site. Whatever it takes, tell them exactly what they need to do to get the benefits that you’ve just offered. Make it as simple, and clear, and easy as possible to do.

That’s all it takes. That is the whole formula. Why don’t you take those words and put them on your computer - P-A-P-A.

You can use this to create powerful, simple e-mails that zero in on the problem, offer a solution, and get you the profits. It’s short and it is sweet! I hope you will use it!

5. Use benefits to attract product desire. Benefits are all that the prospects really care about. They only want to know what the product or service can do for them that can make their life easier, more enjoyable, and more fulfilling.

6. Make readers "believe" your promises. If your ad cannot make the reader believe you, the reader is not going to buy from you. Remember, they are buying on the basis of "sight unseen" - they send their money without ever seeing, touching, or trying out the product. Therefore, it’s very crucial to make them believe that you’re not going to rip them off.

7. Write advertising that relates to the average person in your market. Use the language and terminology that the people in your market use. Know your market. Know what the market likes and doesn’t like. Learn what the problems are that people in your market have. The more you’re able to relate to them, the more you seem to honestly have something for them!

8. Convince the hardened skeptic. Consider all prospects to be hardened skeptics. If you do so, you will be able to create much better advertising. Write to that skepticism. Do everything you can to assure that prospect of the worth of your offer.

13. Write copy that reflects how average people talk. Here is some advice that we go by that has been one factor in our success: If your copy is too complicated for a seventh grader to understand, you need to simplify it. Language can be a barrier as well as a tool. Don’t make it difficult for those prospects to read your advertising. People read advertising in a very passive way, and if your ad requires work, it will most likely end up in the trash.

14. Stay in touch with what people want. People only buy what they really want.

15. Do not test the obvious. Anyone can come up with ideas to test, and testing really is one of the secrets to getting rich. However, you must test things that are smart and are actually questionable. Common sense is just as important as scientific actuality. Electronic News Releases Can Make You RICH!

Now, let’s talk about on-line news releases and articles. There are thousands of magazines called “E-zines” and newsletters published on-line. These are great, great sources of free advertising. Newsletters are popping up all over the place in cyberspace.

You can send your news release or article (the news release is more factual information about a product and the article should be good information about a subject where you put that tag line at the top or at the bottom of your article). You can send this to all sorts of E-zine publishers and newsletter publishers on the Internet. There’s even a company called Gach 98, whom you can contact via e-mail at Gach98@aol.com. You can send your releases and articles to this company, and they are in the business of distributing them to hundreds or thousands of sources of E-zines and newsletters on the Internet.

There’s another company that deals just with newsletters. It’s called www.site-city.com. They have hundreds and hundreds of newsletters. They’ll tell you about the contents of these newsletters so you can pick the ones you want to send your articles or news releases to. This is a wonderful way to get free publicity, and we feel it’s something that you should get busy doing.

Don’t try to convince yourself that you can’t write articles or news releases - YOU CAN! If you absolutely convince yourself you can’t, then, of course, you won’t do it. You can get someone to write them for you. You can also gather information from other sites and rework the information so it’s not plagiarized, or you can get government information that is copyright free and make up some articles with those. We encourage you do to this because you can get hundreds and hundreds and hundreds (maybe even thousands) of E-zines and newsletters to publish what you want to produce - and the news releases you send them can make you rich!

How to Find People Who Will WANT To Link to Your Site - And Help You Make Money!

We all live and die on traffic to our sites, it is so very important. Banner ads are a powerful way to increase traffic.

When you mention traffic, most people think of search engines. Search engines are the focus. But 90% of the traffic for a web site comes from an entirely different place – not search engines, but simply links from other sites!

Everyone knows what a link is from another site, but it is an overlooked gold mine of traffic that you should devote a lot of time and effort to developing. It’s not difficult to do, but the more links, the more traffic, and the more referrals. You cannot count on search engines to deliver all of your traffic. You need banner ads, you need links.

Search engines just don’t cover the waterfront any more. There’s been some recent research that says a lot of the search engines don’t even index 25% of the pages that are really out there.
You cannot depend on the search engines as the source of all of your traffic. The search engine has no real incentive to make certain that all pages are indexed and available to the index because search engines are primarily advertising sites. They are in business to sell ads on the search engine. So as long as there is enough there to be useful to their clients, they’re going to succeed.

You need to build additional ways of getting traffic and not devote all of your time and effort to high positions on the search engines. A way to go about it is simply to look for sites that will attract the same kind of customers that you’re looking for. These are sites that will appeal to the same demographics as your customer. If you’re selling a high ticket item, you want to look at sites that people visit that are high priced items as well. If you’re in a particular niche market, you want to look for other sites that will appeal to the same market.

We know what you’re thinking ... “What about the competition? I don’t want to do business with the competition. I don’t want links with the competition.”

Well, you don’t want a link with someone who sells exactly what you sell, or who sells what you sell cheaper than what you sell, but you do want linked with people who are in the same industry. People who are selling some of the same products still would help, as long as they can deliver and are willing to deliver target customers, it is a mutual and beneficial arrangement.

For example, there are a lot of opportunities, but if your site was on self-publishing, there are all sorts of links that you could establish with printers, artists who design covers, companies who make display racks, box racks for store counters, companies who write press materials, ghost writers, and it goes on and on and on.

People that are related, sources that would be useful for people who visit your site - your customers will appreciate you for it, because you become a resource. This is not just a link. While you are building traffic for them, you are giving valuable information. You’re taking them to sources. And, if you establish a reciprocal link with these companies, there are people who visit the printer who are doing self-publishing so they want to come to your site.

It’s very simple to do. You just have to take the time to approach these other sites that attract the same kind and class of customers that you are looking for and ask them to establish the link. Offer to put a link on your site, or put a link on their site, contact them and say, “You’re a valuable resource with our customers. I put a link on my site to yours, would you be inclined to do the same for me?” Some will, some won’t. It doesn’t matter. The more links on your site, the more people will come again and again to your site, the more people who will be referred to your site.

If you have an affiliate program, you could use it strictly as a link builder. We have a friend who does this. He checks into sites that he thinks are high quality sites, that have products that his customers would be interested in, related products, sites that he would like to be associated with.

He contacts them, asks for a link to help his new site prosper, and he offers them a link in exchange. But then he goes one step further.
